The stock pistons can only withstand up to approx. 500PS and forged pistons are required from this power leveland higher. The stock pistons will likely fail due to a significantly higher combustion pressure and pre-ignition caused by them if run 1.5kg/cm2 (21.3psi) boost, the designated boost amount to achieve the full performance of T550B Turbo. Forged pistons along with reinforced head gaskets are required to make the most of the performance of T550B Turbo. |

CONRODS | TOMEI H-BEAM CONRODS |
The stock connecting rods are one of the weak points of the RB26 engine. When aiming for more than 550PS, then it is highly recommended to upgrade the conrods to stronger forged conrods. |

BOOST SETTINGS | 1.5㎏/cm2(21.3psi) Using a Boost Controller |
At 1.5㎏/cm (21.3psi) of boost, the T550B Turbos is capable of 550PS. The stock engine first weak point is the head gasket. So at the very least, the upgrade of the head gasket and manifold gaskets to the TOMEI metal type is highly recommend.With the Metal head gasket, 500PS is achievable with the T550B Turbos with 1.1~1.2㎏/ (15.6~17.1psi) of boost.With the addition of forged pistons, the engine can then safely handle boost up to 1.5㎏/ (21.3psi). Boost setting should only be performed when the gear is in 4th or 5th gear as it could cause unexpected high load and a higher boost than desired in higher gears if the setting is performed in a lower gear. |

The wastegate actuator has been pre-set from factory and no further adjustment is required in most cases. It is recommended to use a boost controller along with T440M Turbo which helps to maintain stable boost and allows to adjust overall feeling. Adjustment of the wastegate actuator should usually only be performed as a sub-adjustment to help boost controller adjustment. |

TARGET POWER | 550PS |
The stock engine can be able to produce 500PS (with 1.1~1.2㎏/ (15.6~17.1psi) of boost). The head gasket will have to be upgraded to a Metal type to make it possible. If the Pistons are upgraded to Forged Pistons, then it can handle more boost of up to 1.5㎏/ and more power gains are possible. |

CAMSHAFT | TOMEI PONCAM TYPE-B or Similar |
The stock camshafts are inadequate to obtain sufficient exhaust pressure when using larger Turbos.Highly recommend to change camshaft when you set over 1.4kg/cm(19.9psi) boost set up. It helps change the engines characteristics to help utilize the larger Turbos potential. |

HEAD GASKET | CHANGE TO METAL TYPE (RECOMMENDED:TOMEI METAL HEAD GASKET) |
When boost is increased, the combustion pressure is also raised. The Metal Head Gasket helps strengthen your engine to handle more power with the increase in sealing efficiency. You choose the right Gasket thickness to suit your desired compression ratio to suit the boost settings that you’d like to run the engine at. Another common weak point of the RB26 engine is the gaskets of the intake and exhaust assembly gaskets. So we also recommend these to be upgraded too. |

Required injector capacity to suit each setup can be calculated as follows. Target Power(HP) x 5.9 ÷ No. of Cylinders = injector volume (cc) required per cylinder.10-20% higher volumed injectors than the amount calculated above is recommended to obtain ideal spray on high rpm range. |

Required fuel pump capacity to suit each setup can be calculated as follows. Injector volume (cc) x No. of Cylinders x 0.06 = Fuel Pump flow rate (L/h) required for the system.10-20% higher rated fuel pump than the amount calculated above is recommended to stabilize the fuel pressure at all time. |

When high boost is applied, deformation may occur with the genuine suction pipe.By replacing high flow type, you can improve the inhalation efficiency. | |
INTERCOOLER | Large Capacity High Flow Type |
Compressed air from the Turbo goes into the engine. This process increases the air temperature and lowers density of oxygen in the same volume of air that also lowers the combustion efficiency. Supplying the compressed and well cooled air by a better radiating intercooler increases the combustion efficiency that results a better performance and more power. |

BLOW OFF VALVE | STRENGHTENED TYPE (Recirculation Type) |
Without a blow of valve, the compressed air from the turbo when the throttle is suddenly closed would have no where to go and excessively stress the turbo due to a force then generated and tries to stop the turbo from spinning at a very high rpm,The blow off valve protects the turbo, however the stock blow off valve tends to keep releasing boost under high boost and it causes poor response and less peak power. It is not recommended to use a vent-to-atmosphere type when MAF sensor is used for engine management as it causes the ECU not being able to obtain the correct air mass readings that leads to improper A/F ratio. |
